“He is always faithful. He is always good. You have the power to rise above your fear and live fully” – An Interview with Hope Leilani

Hello, my dudes! Welcome back to QTC. If you’ve just somehow run across this site on the web, then please allow me to welcome you with a virtual hug. We’re glad to have ya! 🤗

If you’re a regular reader, once again, welcome back. I’m so happy that you haven’t given up on me yet. I promise I’m funnier IRL.

The beautiful, Hope Leilani.

I recently found Hope through her self-titled blog, Hope Leilani. Her site is a lifestyle + wellness blog filled with lovely articles about topics such as beauty, travel and recipes. Her blog is not only extremely well-written, but also visually stunning. It’s easy to see that Hope puts her heart and and soul into everything she writes, which is one of the many reasons why I adore her and her blog.

An interview with Hope Leilani

Rebekah Banister: How long have you been blogging?

Hope Leilani: I’ve been blogging for about 3 years now.  And I’ve come a pretty long way too!

RB: What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

HL: I love sharing with others things that make me happy and healthy. I am pretty creative and entrepreneurial so I’ve always enjoyed teaching others and sharing the things that I love!

RB: What’s the greatest book you’ve ever read?

HL: Well, other than the Bible of course, I’d have to say either the Anne of Green Gables series or Ella Enchanted.

RB: Who or what influences your writing the most?

HL: Because my blog covers a wide range of lifestyle subjects such as inspiration, productivity, health and wellness, recipes, travel, and so on, there really isn’t one person who influences my writing, it comes from several different sources.

RB: Do you play any instruments?

HL: On and off I’ll play ukulele (I love everything island related) and I also love singing!

RB: Favorite food?

HL: Oh man. So many people ask me this but I never have an answer because I like such a wide range of things. So I really can’t narrow it down to one food, but I definitely love authentic Mexican and Mediterranean! Especially when it’s homemade.

RB: Favorite animal?

HL: Hmmm… I’m not a huge animal person, but since I have to choose I’d probably say puppies. And baby chicks (we just hatched some).

RB: Can you recommend a good Netflix show?

HL: Good TV shows are so hard to come by so I only have watched a few, but I really like When Calls the Heart. It’s like a dramatic and slightly cheesy hallmark show, but it’s pretty entertaining and really captivates your emotions! I also have a “secret” love for Spongebob and Veggie Tales 😂.

RB: What have you been doing to keep yourself busy during this time of social distancing?

HL: School, blogging, working out, doing beauty DIYs, spending time outside, cooking, and every day stuff like that!

RB: If you could speak to your past self, what would you say?

HL: The only opinion that matters is your Creator’s. You can compare yourself to others all day long but it’s only going to steal away your joy and purpose. Find your worth in Him because that’s the only way you’ll be fulfilled.

RB: If you could speak to your future self, what would you say?

HL: He is always faithful. He is always good. You have the power to rise above your fear and live fully. Don’t waste a second, live fearlessly and freely and purposely and passionately. Live like it’s your last day alive – wash feet. (John 13)

RB: Favorite movie?

HL: Same with food, I have an incredibly hard time choosing (I’m a 1 with 9 on the Enneagram). The ones that I can think of right now are Tangled and You Again.

RB: How would you describe your style?

HL: I like to think of it as simple, light, and natural. There’s a little bit of bohemian, minimalist, and chic mixed in it.

RB: Favorite musician/band?

HL: I have sooo many! So I’m just going to list a few: Housefires, Bethel, Elevation Worship, Rend Collective, Local Sound, and Jack Johnson.

RB: Lastly, what’s your opinion on pineapple as a pizza topping?

HL: Haha, I love that you included this question. It’s funny how so many people have such strong opinions about it. I personally like it minimally sprinkled on. When it’s piled on it’s a little bit overwhelming for my taste.

A HUGE thank you again to Hope for agreeing to this interview! I’m so very grateful for the opportunity to get to know you, and I look forward to working together again in the future. 💙

That’s all for today! Thank you for reading, and please stay safe out there. 🦋💓
