Anika Walkes talks unicorns, writing, and why she is Pro-Life

Hello, world! Welcome back to my blog. 🙂

I recently had the chance to interview Anika from her extraordinary blog anikawalkes.com. Her posts are amazing, and she has the prettiest blog design. 😍✨

Without further ado, let’s get into this interview.

Bekah: How long have you been blogging?

Anika: I have been blogging since January 17th, 2015! That seems like sooooo long ago when I think about it, but at the same time not really, ya know? The whole three years I’ve been blogging have been amazing and I can’t wait to continue for many more years to come.

Bekah: Who/what inspired you to create a blog?

Anika: I remember that I got the whole idea of blogging from a movie, I don’t remember what it was called but the main girl had a blog. The idea fascinated me, so as soon as the movie was over I rushed to research different blogging platforms and ask my mom if I could start one (spoiler: she said yes).

Bekah: Super important question: do you like unicorns???

Anika: ASDFGHJKL UNICORNS. I love unicorns. I AM a unicorn. Who doesn’t like unicorns??

Bekah: When you’re not blogging, what other hobbies do you enjoy?

Anika: I’m a writer, so I write. A lot. I also really really love reading, and pretty much always have my nose stuck in a book when I have the chance. And photography! I love photography and I take as many pictures as I can all the time. Along with those three I also LOVE graphic design. I would normally count singing as a hobby because I used to be in choir, but I’m not anymore so I guess I can’t. 😉

Bekah: Do you like reading? If so, what’s your favorite book/book series?

Anika: I L O V E reading with a fiery passion. This is probably one of the hardest questions ever to answer as a bookdragon… but I’d have to say my favorite book/series is a tie between The Lunar Chronicles and the Renegades Trilogy both by Marissa Meyer. Marissa Meyer is an AMAZING writer and her books have always been my favorite.

Bekah: Do you have a favorite musician/band?

Anika: I have a lot of favorite musicians/bands, and I go back a forth a lot, but currently I‘m loving Imagine Dragons and Shawn Mendes.

Bekah: What’s something you’re super passionate about?

Anika: I am VERY passionate about abortion! I know that a lot of people don’t agree with may (you might not even, and that’s totally okay), but I think that abortion is very harmful (unless it’s a life or death emergency and abortion MUST be used) and, in my eyes, pure murder. I dunno, I’ve always had a passion to share with other people my views and thoughts on abortion and to get the word out there about how it’s not really as “innocent” as it seems.

Bekah: Do you like Star Wars? I must know! 😩

Anika: I love Star Wars!!! Some might even consider me a geek. 😛

Bekah: If you could speak to your past self, what would you say?

Anika: I would tell myself not to worry about what other people think, because when I was younger I really was completely wrapped up in what other people thought of me and it gave me a lot of stress. I’m glad I’ve gotten through that but I wish I hadn’t had to go through it at all.

Bekah: What’s your favorite thing about blogging?

Anika: Everything! I love everything about blogging; writing & editing posts, designing, marketing, meeting new people through it, responding to comments, and sharing what I love with the world. It’s all awesome.

Bekah: I think we can all agree that your blog design is beautiful. Did you design it yourself?

Anika: Awe, thank you so much!! That really means a lot to me. I did design it myself using an Etsy template that I doctored up quite a bit, and I had SO much fun doing it. Designing has always been a favorite hobby of mine, and recently (sorry, a lil self promo here :P) I started a blog design business because I find it so fun to design for other people.

Bekah: Do you have any upcoming projects that you can share with us?

Anika: I would love to share! What I’m currently working on as my kind of “full time project” is a fantasy novel about a war between faeries and humans. I need to get a synopsis written up but once I do I will totally be sharing about it on my blog.

Bekah: What’s your favorite blog post you’ve ever written?

Anika: The post I had the most fun writing (tbh I’m not sure why! XD) was 3 Reasons EVERYONE Should Write Flash Fiction. I really really love flash fiction and I love sharing about it, so it was super fun to write and publish. It was also my first “professional” post after the new design was published.

Bekah: What do you find most challenging when it comes to writing blog posts?

Anika: I have a really hard time making my posts long enough. I come up with a lot of cool topics to post on, but the problem is is that a lot of the time I just don’t have enough to say or know enough on the topic to post about it because the article would be 200 words long. It’s something I’m working at and (hopefully) becoming better at though!

Bekah: If the whole world were listening, what would you say?

Anika: I’m a Christian and have a strong faith in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so if the whole world was listening I would love to share my testimony and personal life story and how God has brought me through some incredibly difficult times. I love to share my faith with people and that would be such a blessing for me to be able to reach so many people. ❤

I hope you all enjoyed reading this interview. 💗 Don’t forgot to like and drop a comment!
