Kenzie @ Paper Pizza talks blogging, books, and pineapple pizza

Hello, world! Long time, no see, am I right?

Before we get into today’s super exciting post, allow me to explain why I was MIA for nearly a month.

Only one word can explain my unplanned disappearance, and that word is: Nutcracker.

This was my very first Nutcracker season, and it sure was hectic.

Now that you know of my whereabouts, it’s time to get into our post!

Today I am going to share with you a recent interview I did with Kenzie from her lovely little blog Paper Pizza. Head over to her blog (after reading this, of course!) to read her part of the collab. 🤗

And now, let’s get this party started!

Bekah: How long have you been blogging?

Kenzie: I have been blogging for over seven years now! I started blogging when I was fourteen on February 1st, 2011. I kind of blogged on and off until 2013 when I created a new blog. But I didn’t start taking blogging seriously until I changed the name of that blog and totally revamped my whole blogging brand.

Bekah: What is your goal with blogging?

Kenzie: When it comes to blogging, I love being 100.9% honest. Whether it be with any of my experiences or my feelings… I like to stay true to my readers. I find it easy to hide behind a mask (or screen) these days and I don’t want to be someone I’m not. Another goal for me is to make sure no one feels alone. Sometimes life can be overwhelming and scary so I want to make sure that when someone reads one of my posts, they’ll feel like “Hey, I’m not the only one!”. I want to help people find happiness in the little things.

My blog is a safe place for people to feel comfortable and at ease. Anxiety is the worst so if you’re ever feeling overwhelmed, come on over and we will chat about books, fictional loves, snuggly pets, and creativity.

Bekah: That’s so sweet, Kenzie! Do you have a favorite color?

Kenzie: Eh. *buys anything that is the color yellow* Not really.

Bekah: Who/what inspired you to start a blog?

Kenzie: So, get this. It’s really hilarious. Haha. Um, I really liked American Girl dolls for a long period of time. I came across a doll blog and it made me want to start my own. So, I did.

Bekah: How many blogs do you have?

Kenzie: I just have the one, Paper Pizza. I did start a collaborative blog last year called Ravenquill Press which is a place where people can submit written works and express their love for literature.

Bekah: That’s really neat! Do you have a favorite book/book series?

Kenzie: *rubs the palms of my hands together* Oh, do I! I don’t like picking favorites. In fact, I never even imagined myself ever picking a favorite book. EVER. But whenever I’m asked this question… There’s only one book that comes to mind and that is Carry On by Rainbow Rowell.

Bekah: Do you have a favorite YouTuber?

Kenzie: I kind of watch YouTube sporadically. It also depends on if I’m watching it with someone. If I’m watching it alone, I’ll usually pick:

Abbie Emmons (SHE IS SERIOUSLY THE BEST. plus, she’s my friend which is even more amazing!)

paperbackdreams (she cracks me up.)

Rachel A. Seo (she vlogs about college and has a lot of helpful/inspirational videos)

Jordan Clark (I go to her if I’m in a calm, creative mood)

If I’m watching it with any of my siblings:

The Dolan Twins (I love them so much. their squad with Emma and James is the best.)

James Charles

PolandbananasBOOKS (I’ve been watching her for years and I’ll never stop)

And recently, I started watching:

Shane Dawson’s Conspiracy Theories (everything is a lie)

BuzzFeed UNSOLVED (which is both funny and spoopy and I love it)

Bob Ross (he owns my heart)

Bekah: Gotta love Bob Ross. 😄 If you could speak to your past self, what would you say?

Kenzie: Dude. Calm down. Wait. Good things will come.

Bekah: That’s some good advice I think we could all use! When you’re not blogging, what other hobbies do you enjoy?

Kenzie: Wellllllllll… I love reading. I read a lot. At least, I try to. I also write and express my creativity with photography and drawing/painting.

Bekah: Do you hope to always be blogging?

Kenzie: YES. It wasn’t until this past year did I realize that I never want to stop blogging. All the other times I took a break from it, I always knew I would be back. If I’m not blogging then I feel like I’m missing a limb.

I’m more me when I blog. I’m saner when I blog.

Bekah: Same! I can’t stand to be without blogging. Any upcoming projects that you can share with us?

Kenzie: This type of question tends to catch me off guard because I’m ALWAYS working on something but I don’t think I have any projects that are shareable…? I recently finished through some edits for a story I wrote. And I want to participate in NaNoWriMo again this year.

As for future projects, I’d really like to self-publish my journal entries or start a podcast show!

Bekah: What’s your #1 piece of advice for aspiring bloggers?

Kenzie: Be completely an utterly raw. What I look for in a blog is personality. Have you ever come across a blog and the posts make you feel like you know this person? Don’t be afraid to be you.

Another piece of advice is… aesthetic. I know it shouldn’t matter but in a way, it does. Find what your style is and go for it. Let yourself experiment. As you can see, I obviously do not stick to one theme for my blog posts. I blog about anything that interests me. But I do like keeping my aesthetic centered around books, pizza, and sunshine!

Bekah: Who are your top three favorite bloggers?

Kenzie: NOOO. YOU CAN’T ASK ME THIS. YOU CAN ASK ME ANYTHING BUT THIS! I honestly can’t choose. And to be open about this topic, I need to read more blogs. That is one thing I’m really bad at as a blogger. Kenzie, you need to support your fellow bloggers!

But I guess you can say that my favorite bloggers are my fellow blogger friends. ❤

Bekah: Do you have any fictional character ships or otps?

Kenzie: BWHAHAHA UMM… Yes, yes I do. I have quite a few ships but here are three that make me want to shout “OTP” from every rooftop of every building ever:

Simon & Baz

Simon & Blue

Peter Kavinsky & Lara Jean

Bekah: Can you make an acronym out of your own name?

Kenzie: I think so…? I’ve never done this before! My acronym would be MRV. And I think that would kind of sound like “Merrrrrv”. o.O

Bekah: How did you come up with your blog name? It’s rather awesome, by the way. 🙂

Kenzie: Why, thank you! An old friend came up with it for me when I was thinking of starting a card-making business. I’ve always loved making cards and I’ve always loved pizza… Thus, Paper Pizza.

Bekah: Have you enjoyed this interview?

Kenzie: Yes. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed it quite tremendously.

Bekah: Last but not least, if the whole world were listening, what would you say?

Kenzie: …I DON’T CARE WHAT YOU THINK, PINEAPPLE PIZZA IS AMAZING. GOOD NIGHT EVERYBODY!

Bekah: AMEN!

That was so fun! Kenzie and I had a blast collaborating with each other. 😀

Don’t forget to head over to Paper Pizza so you can read Kenzie’s part of the collab. (Spoiler: she interviewed me! How cool is that?)

Have a great weekend! I’ll see you next Sunday. 🤗
