I’m In Love With “Anne With An E” || And Here’s Why

Lucas Jade Zumann is the NEW Gilbert Blythe. Try to change my mind.

Hello, world! Happy weekend to you all!

I honestly can’t believe it’s already the weekend. I feel like the week just began. 😧

Anyhoo, today I’m going to talk about one of my favorite shows of ALL TIME.

When I’m not watching my beloved Haters Back Off, you can find me binge-watching the beautiful show, Anne With An E.

Before you stop me and say: “Bekah! Nothing can compare to the 1980’s Anne Of Green Gables! This doesn’t even follow the story correctly!”

Just hear me out…

I just want to exclaim loudly: WHO CARES ABOUT IT FOLLOWING THE STORY CORRECTLY?!

This isn’t an adaptation, people. It’s a reimagining of this beloved story. Can’t we just give it a chance?

Oh, that’s right. You can’t. Because you don’t accept the new Gilbert Blythe. Yeah, that totally makes sense. You’re soooo sensible.

REASONS WHY I’M IN LOVE WITH ANNE WITH AN E

Reason 1: The Cinematography

One thing I think we can all agree on is the cinematography. It’s stunning!! 😍

Reason 2: Amybeth Mcnulty’s acting

The young Amybeth makes an extraordinarily spunky Anne Shirley. πŸ˜ƒ

Reason 3: Matthew Cuthbert’s fatherly awesomeness

HE’S JUST SO SWEET OKAY.

Reason 4: GILBERT FREAKING BLYTHE

He’s so sweet to Anne, and I ship them SO HARD.

Reason 5: All around inclusiveness

Unlike the books or movies, Anne With An E is inclusive of sexual identities, ethnicities, and so much more.

Reason 6: Darker themes

Moira Walley-Beckett brings a whole new aesthetic by exploring the book’s darker themes.

Reason 7: The opening theme

Exquisitely mind-boggling artwork + a song by The Tragically Hip = pure awesomeness. You can’t get any more Canadian than The Tragically Hip. That’s a fact.

I think this concludes our post for today!

If any random person who works for Netflix is reading this, PLEASE DO ANOTHER SEASON OF THIS SHOW PLEASE.

See you all on Monday! πŸ˜€Have you seen Anne With An E?

  3. Okay, so, I disagree with you somewhat, but you make me laugh so hard reading your post that you turn away my impending wrath!! Jk! πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ™ˆ I will always love the 1980’s version and the original Gilbert Blye 😜, but with that being said, I agree with several of the points you made and I enjoy the show, but I pretend it’s a completely different story and I can kinda enjoy it that way! πŸ˜ŽπŸŽ‰ Great post, girl!!
